The Elite 250 is a great machine. I’m planning to leave the engine alone as it’s plenty powerful, but I am definitely going to upgrade the suspension. I’m planning a cross-country trip either this year or next on the Elite and it’s going to need a much more significant suspension if I plan to haul any gear at all. It’s taxed beyond its already meager capabilities just hauling me around now. Thankfully, it looks like there are some YSS upgrade shocks that should be bolt-on for the Elite. They’ve got 5-position preload adjustment, which should help a lot. I’ll be looking to those on the rear and then at least trying to source stiffer springs for the front shocks.

Hi Nathaniel, I know you from your Streetliner project. CH250s are awesome, I put about 5000 miles on one over the last 10 years. I modded mine with a GSX-R exhaust and it had pure uninterrupted power up to 55, then slow rise to about 67 (maybe 100 miles at that speed, it’s not nearly as twitchy as I’ve heard in reports, but it is really weird to pass semis and SUVs on a tiny scooter). CVTs are fun & easy to mess with, too. Hit a patch of back-road gravel last year and now my left clavicle looks like a tree branch, so in deference to all the other things I want to do in life I gave the scoot away to friends. Definitely THE 80′s scooter to own, and as the other commenter suggested, if you can’t find one, Big Ruckus should be your backup choice.
